Ralf J. Holzer, MD, MSc, FSCAI is the Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Therapy and the Interim Division Chief of Cardiology at Sidra Medical & Research Center. Dr. Holzer received his medical degree from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany. He completed his residency in Germany and the UK, and his cardiology fellowship training at the Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital in the UK, including an advanced fellowship in transcatheter interventions at University of Chicago Children’s Hospital. After his training, he worked as a consultant at Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital, and subsequently as an attending physician and co-director of the cath lab at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, before moving to the Sidra Medical & Research Center in Qatar in 2014. Dr Holzer is an expert on all types of transcatheter interventions with an extensive academic and research portfolio with a particular interest in outcomes research, quality improvement, and risk adjustment. Dr Holzer also holds a Masters degree in information technology.
