Dr. Terry D. King Honored with the 2025 Prince Mahidol Award in Medicine
The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal Patronage has announced that Terry D. King, MD, Senior Staff Physician at Ochsner Children’s Health Center (West Monroe Louisiana, USA) has been named the 2025 Laureate of the Prince Mahidol Award in Medicine — one of the world’s most prestigious honors in global health and medical innovation.
Established in 1992 to commemorate Prince Mahidol of, revered as the Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health of Thailand, the Prince Mahidol Award recognizes groundbreaking contributions transforming health care worldwide.
Dr. King revolutionized care for infants, children and adults born with heart defects, saving countless lives and expanding the field of interventional cardiology. His pioneering work in developing minimally invasive non-surgical ways to treat complex heart disease led to outcomes once believed impossible.

Dr. King and his spouse have been graciously invited to Bangkok, where Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over the Award Ceremony on January 28, 2026, followed by academic engagements and commemorations marking the 100th Prince Mahidol Laureate celebration.
This honor places Dr. King among an elite group of global medical leaders whose achievements continue to elevate standards of care and inspire further innovation in the health sciences. Congratulations Dr. King on this phenomenal award…well deserved !
